The Film begins with some freezing images of Indo-Pak partition and mesmerizing poem by Gulzar. Kya Dilli Kya Lahore showcases the vulnerability of humanitarian sensibilities. How paralyzed we are in front of the religious beliefs and the Hindu-Muslim doctrines! This world can function with love, dignity and respect but it has been turned into a land of hatred and war for no reasons or probably some hidden reasons. The film will give you a feeling of helplessness and sheer distress.
Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is thankfully a short film as it could be carried for too long because of its monotonous tone. Presented by Gulzar the movie has some great dialogues that will persuade you to ask WHY? The subject of Indo-Pak has been dealt in a different way putting forward the point that Pakistan or India, they are the same and are only divided because of the man made border.
Performances by Vijay Raaz (also the director of the film) and Manu Rishi are heart touching. But the middle portion of the film drags you a little bit and you feel like leaving it midway. But The end is wonderfully shot and proves that a low budget, no star cast film is also capable to hold you back to the seats.
Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is a sensible film with a sensible screenplay and plot. You will like it if you like the cinema which is based on the issue of partition!
