Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum is now facing another Legal action by Allahabad High Court. The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court issued notices to Centre and Censor Board asking them to reply within three weeks on a PIL seeking ban on Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maaro Dum.

A bench comprising Chief Justice FI Rebello and Justice Devendra Kumar Arora passed this order on a PIL filed by lawyers Rohit Tripathi and Tripuresh Tripathi.

The two requested the court to issue directives to the Producer and Director of the film Dum Maaro Dum to change the name of the film as it encourages drug abuse. They also want the title song to be suitably modified so that it falls under the “purview of morality and decency”.

The film, they claim was found to be inciting, an offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Meanwhile, the Bombay high court bench in Panaji dismissed the petition filed against the release of the movie Dum Maro Dum that attracted flak for allegedly portraying Goa and its people in bad light.

Set in the backdrop of Goa and its drug underbelly, the film releases on April 22. Bipasha Basu in lead role, had evoked public protests in Goa over its negative portrayal of the tourist state. There was also controversy over the theme of the film. One particular promotional dialogue from the film “Liquor is cheap here and women are even cheaper here” caused quite a stir

Dum Maaro Dum is a movie with big star casts like Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar and Aditya Pancholi. Deepika Padukone will be grooving to the remix version of the hit song “Dum Maro Dum”.

No Matter good or bad, A Publicity is a Publicity.

SriLanka Won the Toss and they elected to bat first…

Often we’ve seen ardent fans cheering for their favourite Bollywood stars. But today afternoon, some of our biggest stars will be rooting for Team India at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, during its final world cup battle against Sri Lanka.

Aamir Khan, who had gone to see the India-Pakistan semi-final at Mohali on Wednesday, has once again requested director Reema Kagti to cancel a day’s shoot.

Apparently, the superstitious actor has not only decided to wear the same T-shirt and trousers but also the same pair of shoes and socks he wore when the India beat their arch rivals by a comfortable margin of 29 runs.
Abhishek Bachchan, who couldn’t make it to Mohali, is also looking forward to catching the action live at the stadium. Though Amitabh Abhishek Bachchan has tweeted that he won’t be at Wankhede to catch the final match, Abhishek says, “I’m eagerly looking forward to supporting our team at Wankhede. Pa has been following all India’s matches. It will be great if he can accompany me.”
Lara Dutta will catch the game at Wankhede with her group of friends. “She just can’t wait for the match to start where she will root for Team India,” says a friend of the actor.
Suniel Shetty, who will be at Wankhede with wife Mana and son, to catch the match with industrialist Gautam Singhania and friends in the Raymonds box, will also stick to the white T-shirt and blue jeans he had worn in Mohali. “Before the semis, I told you that India can manage with over 250 runs because Pakistan didn’t look like a team that would go beyond 220,” he says, adding, “If we bat first and manage at least 270, we’ll win the final. Lanka won’t be able to take the pressure.”
“Sachin Tendulkar and team have handled Muttiah Muralitharan very well, we can easily play Ajantha Mendis too. We have a good bowling line-up and with a tight fielding, we can prevent the Lankans from outscoring us,” he adds.
Minissha Lamba calls the match “an epic moment” for Indian cricket. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” she says. Dino Morea, who is recovering from a sore throat after loudly cheering for India in the semi-final, sent a text message: “It’s going to be a tough match and I’m excited to be present amidst the maddening energy and excitement. I’ll be losing my voice for India again, but that doesn’t matter!”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan reunite to star alongside Tamil superstar Vikram. Mani this time has written a story line culminating the characters of Robin Hood, Veerappan and of course our very own Ramayana. The film’s characters have strong shades of grey where the hero is not necessarily a good man and the villain, a bad man. Director Mani Ratnam is back with undoubtedly his most ambitious project ever, and with Raavan he triumphs. Raavan movie rating has been good overall, though movie review has been varying among viewers.

Academy Award Winner A R Rahman delivers a haunting soundtrack, with lyrics of Gulzar. The picturisation of ‘Beera Beera’ combines Bollywood funk and boy band moves with tribal dance and demonic images.

As I said earlier the Raavan movie earned mixed response from the audience. First to tell you about the weaknesses that it suffered. The story written by Mani had many glitches, though he managed to present a modern adaptation of epic Ramayana with a twist in characters, still it had lot to be asked.

The promos of Raavan may set you thinking about some of the great action sequences in the film but sadly there weren’t any worth talking about. The scenes between Ash and Abhi in the jungle are repeated most of the time. One more thing that the film seriously suffered was the bad dialogue writing. I am amazed how a Mani Ratnam movie can suffer on such a ground. The dialogues were not at all impressive and could not lend any depth to the characters. But all thanks to the beautiful camera handling by Santosh Sivan and V Manikanandan. The jungle never has looked so beautiful before in any other Indian movie like the way it looked in Raavan. Santosh has nicely used rain, water and natural beauty of woods to give the audience a much needed freshness.

With a running time of just 130 minutes, the film is significantly shorter than most Indian cinema. The interval arrives before you know it, although certain scenes in the final reels fail to maintain the earlier momentum. Since the advent of Indian cinema, the mythological genre has been seen on screen.

Overall, you can watch Raavan but don’t expect high. If you do not expect too high from the film, you will not return disappointed. Watch it for its cinematography and amazing work from Abhishek Bachchan who has delivered very good role of character Raavan.
