Storyline:

Debutant director Rensil D’Silva’s ability to maintain the intense graph of Kurbaan is the biggest highlight of this film.

Avantika played by Kareena comes to Delhi from USA. In Delhi she meets with Ehsaan played by Saif Ali Khan who is a lecturer of Islamic Studies in Delhi University. Avantika also starts working as a professor of Psychology in Delhi University.

They move to US after getting married in Delhi. But later Kareena Kapoor aka Avantika comes to know that Ehsaan was playing a game with her and he is a terrorist and married her to hide his identity from the world. Ehsaan kept her inside the house. Soon Avantika comes to know about the plans of Ehsaan to hijack an airplane……

After an arresting start, the film gets a little shaky. Post interval the pace slackens and the tension between the lead characters becomes monotonous. In the second hour you often find yourself wanting some more action to give some respite from the talk heaviness. The writers run out of surprises in this part of thefilm. Given its grim plot, two hours and forty minutes is way too long for an average cinegoer. A taut, complex film starts culminating into a routine FBI chase. Things however pick up in a lengthy but well-executed climax shot on a subway station.

The movie seems to be any other movie but it has something that will keep you get engaged till the last moment. Salim-Sulaiman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have given again their best. Some songs comes up really melodious. Saif has done a very good job. Kareena looks ok. Kareena backless/topless scene just looks in the poster outside of the theater. But in the movie there is nothing too much to watch about the Kareena’s hot scene. The movie’s cost was around 50 crores and that will come back in the producer’s hands easily. No doubt in that. Even the movie is a directorial debut for Rensil D’Silva, he has done very nice job. Surely Karan Johar shared his experiences with him that also looks on screen. The movie is a mixture of love and terrorism.

Kurbaan works in most parts because the director keeps the cinematic coincidences and liberties to the minimum. And wherever you do sense a leap of faith it is not jarring. Secondly, despite knowing how the characters will react, Rensil manages to shock you with his scenes. Note the moment where Saif reveals his identity. You know what it is all about, yet it hits you hard. Rensil doesn’t digress from his core plot right up to the climax – which might meet with mixed reactions.

However it is Vivek Oberoi who delivers a spontaneous performance. His character gives the film some much-needed energy. Vivek’s part has more range than the lead pair’s. Dia Mirza and Nauheed Cyrusi get the most significant guest appearances of their lives. Om Puri and Kirron Kher are clichéd but deliver some brilliant dialogues.

Salim-Suleiman’s haunting tunes add to the stark premise of the film – especially Ali Maula. Technically the production values are top-notch even though cleverly inspired by Hollywood. Inconsistencies aside, Kurbaan is undoubtedly among the most watchable films of the season.

Kurbaan could have been a tighter and perhaps slightly more engrossing film. But considering it is the director’s maiden effort – full marks to Rensil D’Silva. He does well to stay away from any frothy elements at the cost of sacrificing the mass entertainment value. It’s mostly a gripping thriller with several shock moments.

He lost his temper and hurled a water bottle at designer Rohit Verma, which accidentally ended up hitting actress Shamita Shetty. The actor also had a major tiff with television actor Bakhtiyaar Irani, and almost came to blows with comic Raju Shrivastav. The housemates, unable to cope with KRK anymore, requested to Bigg Boss that he leave the show.

According to sources, “A verbal fight that ensued between Kamal and Rohit took an ugly turn when KRK threw a bottle at Rohit. Rohit managed to dodge the bottle, which hit Shamita’s hand. Everybody was shocked and Raju Shrivastav clearly told Kamal that his behaviour was unacceptable. This advice angered Kamal further and the argument deteriorated into a fistfight. Ismail Darbar immediately stepped in and played peacemaker before things turned uglier. Just when everyone was calming down, Bakhtiyaar Irani too gave Kamal a piece of his mind. By then, ‘Bigg Boss’ felt it was time he said something and asked everyone to assemble in the living room. He straight way ordered Kamal to pack his bags and leave the house. Any form of violence is not permissible in the house and since Kamal did not follow the rule, he is out,”.

Channel sources confirms, “His behaviour was not at all acceptable. He always makes comments about some of the clothes the women were wearing.What Kamal did was completely out of line, and against the rules of the Bigg Boss house, and hence he was asked to leave the house.”

Among others left in the house are, baby-faced muscleman Vindu Dara Singh seemed keen to be this season’s Rahul Mahajan, by generally looking enthusiastic, and greeting everyone by their first names. Ismail Darbar kept walking around darkly, quietly as if deeply searching everything and everyone, Internet star Sherlyn Chopra, famous for her “I want to die in a bikini”made a big deal about untying her choli, almost plastering herself to the camera, Ex-Miss India and now glamorous reel mom Poonam Dhillon, Reality TV -find, comedian Raju Srivastav, TV actors and dancers Tanaz and Bakhtiyar Irani, flop starlet Shamita, better known as Shilpa Shetty’s little sister, Salman Khan’s German co-star from the long-forgotten Marigold Claudia Ciesla And finally Rohit Verma, called himself a “Hiroshima Nagasaki bomb” and asked the inmates of they wanted him to use the men’s or the women’s bedroom.

Last week proved to be lucky for KRK, as the occasion of Diwali stopped Bigg Boss from eliminating him. Will Bigg Boss give Kamal yet another chance? Or will the decision of Bigg Boss to send him out be the final call?

Now who is the next to leave Bigg Boss House????

Review:

A treasure lays buried deep at the bottom of an ocean. There are many people who want to get there by risking life, be it theirs or someone else’s.

‘Blue’ is casted as Bollywood’s first underwater movie, Directed by Anthony D’Souza , the movie is inspired from Hollywood flicks like ‘The Deep’ or ‘Jaws’, but not a copy.

The film is about a lost treasure, which three friends try to find undersea. Akshay Kumar , Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan play the respective roles.

With a budget of almost 100 crores, making ‘Blue’ one of the most expensive movies made in the Indian cinema.’Blue’ kick starts with a song shot under water which almost gives you an experience of deep sea diving as you get a closer look into the marine life. Two minutes into the movie and there you go, a shark scene executed by James D Bomalick with Akshay and Sanjay, probably the first and last, which is quite disillusioning because that is the only stunt you get to see with sharks as in the remaining film they seemed to have depicted well fed sharks who quite surprisingly did not bother to attack any human beings around them. What happens next, throughout the movie is a phase of events, which leave you unfazed and get out of the theatres as quick as you can.

‘Blue’ is a story of Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) who works with Aarav (Akshay Kumar) for his fishing business in Bahamas and is also a deep sea diver who knows the Pacific Ocean like the back of his hand. The movie is for the treasure in a sunken ship lady in blue, which is the sole motive of Aarav’s existence and the reason behind that, is revealed only in the climax. All is going fine in the life of Sagar and his girlfriend Mona (Lara Dutta), when his younger brother Sam (Zayed Khan), who is a rebel and had run away from home five years back finds himself in a soup in Bangkok and runs back to big bro Sagar for help. Well, nothing new and novel about the story, but the crux is that whilst you are watching the movie you realize that the screen play is very weak and so is Anthony D’Souza direction. The story could have been made into a suspense leaving some space for the audience’s imagination, however a bad screenplay by Mayur Puri, breaks the backbone of ‘Blue’.

While Indians have liked Jaws and Titanic, National treasure was a big hit, no one questioned the logic behind the story or any of the scenes, but, when a desi director does international quality work, everyone sits up and puts in their two bits of opinion.

A bad story is further affected by bad dialogues, again by Mayur Puri. Akshay Kumar looks hot and his dressing sense is quite good too, while Zayed is at his usual best, the bad boy look, Sanjay disappoints as he looks haggard and completely unfit for an action movie, while the surprise in the movie is sizzling Lara sporting four to five different and colorful bikinis and looking hot and irresistible. While Rahul Dev (Gulshan) is average and Katrina Kaif(Nikki) who has just a cameo in the movie, looks wild with her looks and breaks out from her delicate image. It is not that the movie has no ups, of course! it is a visual treat as it has some excellent cinematography by Laxman Utekar who captures the beautiful city of Bahamas in a scenic manner and the underwater sequences are worth a watch. Especially, some awesome underwater stunts by all the four actors. In terms of action outside water, ‘Blue’ fails, with some draggy long bike chases and races. The bike chase between Akshay and Zayed is quite long. All underwater stunts and antiques are excellent and quite fresh for an Indian audience, all credits for the efforts taken by the actors performing them and by underwater cinematographer Pete Zuccarini.

The music of the film is average and does not sound like A.R. Rahman’s work.

What is commendable about the movie is the guts to attempt such a movie in Indian cinema, the execution of the under water sequences, the stunts by the actors and capturing the beautiful marine life on camera. But on second thoughts with no story and screenplay in place and unlively performances with no emotional connect with audience. Two stars for the efforts by everyone involved with ‘Blue’.

Iske liye jin ingredients ki hame zaroorat hai wo hain:

1)  8 se 10 aise celebrities jinka kabhi na kabhi vivadon se vaasta raha ho. Agar nahi, to aise celebrities bhi challenge jo fizool ka vivaad paida karne me sankoch na karen.

Waise agar aapko Rakhi Sawant ki dates mil jaayen to wo akeli hi kaafi hai,(“Rakhi Ka Swayamvar-Season2”).

2)  Male ke saath saath female ratio ka bhi khaas khayaal rakhen… Jitni zayada females, utne kam kapde, aur utne hi zayada darshak(Viewers). Aap chahen to bathroom ki jagah, open area me artificial bhi laga sakte hain… Aisa karen se female celebrities bikini me aakar wahan nahayengi jo show ke liye laal mirch ke tadke ka kaam karega.(“Is Jungle Se Mujhe Bachaao”)…

3)  Show me jagah jagah par beep ki aawaz daalna na bhoolen. Aisa karen ke liye un celebrities ka istemaal karen- Gaaliyan jinke finger tips pe reheti hon aur gussa naak par. Ek episode me normally ek jhagada(fight) aur usme lagbhag 8-10 baar beep ki aawaz daalna show me jaan daal deta hai.

4)  Apne serial me emotions ka chonk daalne ke liye celebrities ko rulaayen… Namkeen aansuon(tears) ka istmaal swaad anusaar karen… Iske liye sabse appropriate celebrities ho sakte hain- Monika Bedi, Gohar Khan, Shweta Tiwari, Raja etc…

5)  Celebrities ko gande gande task dekar jaise ki earthworms ka noodle khana(“Is Jungle Se Mujhe Bachaao”), aap apne show ki khushboo badha sakte hain, aisa karne se darshak(Viewers) aapke show ka besabri se intzaar karenge…

6)  Khana jitni zayaada der tak gas par pakta hai utna hi zayaad tasty hota hai… Agar aapko apne TV show ke episodes thode kam lag rahe hon to uski avadhi badhane ki koshish karen. Iske liye aap Wild Card Entry jaise masaalon ko upyog kar sakte hain…

Yun toh show ka swaad TRP badhane ke bahut se tareeke hai… Par sab se useful tareeka hai (Jo aaloo ki tarah kisi bhi sabzi me dal jata hai), logon ko aapas me ladwana (Fighting between celebrities).

Ye sab masale aapke show ko chat-pata banana ke liye kaafi hain.  Inki help se aap ek superhit TV Reality Show bana sakte hain.

Cameras love her more than anybody else!

Controversies run behind her… She does not need to put an extra effort to create any sensation! Her presence is enough to set the ambience on fire…She has a magnetic quality that pulls the TV cameras towards her automatically…

The TRP of news channels, touch the sky, when Rakhi becomes news for them.

Reality shows become more spicy, with Rakhee in them!!!

No matter how irritating she might appear to a section of society, the Truth is- Nobody has missed “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”, (If not the complete show then there curiosities must have forced them to watch “Rakhi Ki Shaadi” in bits and pieces…)

But the question is, Is the show for Real? Are the contestants for Real? Are they really in love with Rakhi or vice-versa? Do they really want to marry her? Or it is just a stunt to get noticed?

What I think is that most of the contestants had their selfish motives, (of becoming famous), and the Swayamvar was only a SWAYAM-WAR for them… Manmohan Tiwari was one Jisse Rakhi ne kiya benakaab…

Infact one of the 3 finalists Chittiz also told Rakhi that he takes her as a good friend and is not in love with her YET, (When the show had reached its finale)… Then why did he come on the show?

The uneasiness of the mothers was also visible clearly during the show. Their fake smiles, screamed out loud, what their hearts really wanted…, “Hey Bhagwan, Rakhi Sawant aur meri bahu, Nahi Nahi Nahi!!!”

And on the last day, the happiness of the two families, whom Rakhi did not select, was more prominent then the Parujanwala’s… That’s what I feel!!!

Well, I hope to be wrong and wish Rakhie and Elesh a very happy and a looooong married life…

One more thing I want to say is that Rakhi Sawant could have dressed a bit more decently on the occasion, like a true Indian bride…

I remember, as a kid, I used to feel irritated, when my elder brother loved watching Michael Jackson…. Not even a single word of his, was able was satisfy…

But as I grew, my perception changed…

A self made man, struggled a lot- achieved a lot… Michael Jackson remain in controversies all through his life.

At times, for his extensive plastic surgeries, sometimes for being a convict in child abuse case…

And now even after his death, his soul has not been able to rest in peace…

Did he know that after so many plastic surgeries during his life time, his body will also go through a number of post-mortem after his death?

There are endless questions that surround Michael Jackson’s life- his relationship with his father, his true appearance, the reason for his death and many more…

There was only one man who could answer all these and that was Michael Jackson himself!!!

And now when he, famous for his moon walk, has himself become a star, doesn’t he deserve an honorary burial??

Doesn’t his soul would be screaming loud, “You did not let me live, at-least let me die in peace!!”

Yes I know, bollywood is far behind from the Hollywood in many aspects, Yet our Bollywood star wives are all set to leave behind the Hollywood big wiggies…

They are ready to do anything and everything to see their star hubbies on the top…

We have so many examples to count..

First and the foremost is Twinkle khanna!! Remember the unbuttoning act of Akshay Kumar?? This publicity earned Akshay a lot money.. But not only Akshay, even Twinkle received a lot of criticism for publically unbuttoning her husband!!

Another example is of the most sweetest couple of our Industry, Sussane- Hrithik Roshan..

Hrithik and papa Rakesh Roshan are busy promoting their upcoming flick, “Kites”…. The Hrithik- Barbara affair is a part of this promotion… (A strategy that works amazingly sometimes for giving any movie a hype before its release.. Even their on-screen kiss has been given a lot of importance).. And the best part of this is that Sussane has been a support system and a partner in crime of this entire publicity gimmick…

Infact Shiney Ahuja’s wife also came up for shiney’s rescue after he was convicted in the rape case..

Few months back Arbaz Khan- Mallika Arora, came in the news for getting divorced… But later it proved to be publicity ka chakkar, which was for some product… And they had to face a lot of criticism from their fans for it….

I am sure there are more such instances… And why not?? Good or Bad, publicity is publicity!!! And when done for you husband, one does not require any other PRO..

Yes you gussed it right! Shiney Ahuja has been accused of raping his maid…

Though, many people, including Shiney’s wife and neighbors have come out for his rescue. But if the charges on Shiney are proved correct, then once upon a time tagged as an ‘Intense actor’ would be now tagged as a rapist.

Well this kind of an acquisition on Shiney is definitely the biggest, but not the first.

Shiney started his career in 2006, with “Hazaaron Kwahishen Aisi” and since then he has been in news for different bad reason. Especially for not getting along very well with his female co-stars. You name it and you have it… Kangana Ranaut, Esha Deol and even our Preeti Zinta.

The case is still under investigation and the actor is waiting for the decision, behind the bars.

Now, it is hard to guess that is it controversies that make our hindi film industry/stars or is it our film industry/ stars that make controversies ?????

One of the main reasons for this has been, the face off between the multiplex owners and the producers of the industry, (it has now ended)…

Another reason is that the kind of films released during these months, were not able to attract the audiences to the theaters… Most of them were small budget movies with no star power associated with them…

Movies like, “Aaloo Chat’, “Ek- the power of one”, “Straight”, “Gulaal”, “Dhoondte Reh Jaoge”, “Siddharth- The Prisoner”, have been like, bombs with no spark, at the box office window.

Even the films with considerably good budget and star value, have failed badly on the box office…. Like, “Billu” and “Delhi-6″..

Infact even Akshay Kumar has proved a disaster this year with movies like, “Chandani Chowk To China” and “8*10 Tasveer”…

The few movies that attracted the classes and not the masses and got critically acclaimed were, ‘Dev-D”, “Luck By Chance”, etc…

The only movie, that has managed to snatch away all the attention amidst all these flops has been, “Slumdog Millionaire”, (Made by a firang, Dany Boyle)…

So this year has not been very good for the film industy, till now… But there are rays of hope shinning, in the remaining year of 2009…

The list of the unreleased movies, those might release this year, is no less than a plates of tempting dishes, for the movie buffs…

“Kambakth Ishq”, “What’s your Rashee?”, “New York”, “Kaminay”, “Kites”, “London Dreams”, “My name is Khan” and “Wanted Dead Or Alive” are the few to name… “3 Idiotd”, “Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani”..

Lets hop that the wait for the good films is soon going to be over…
