Given the huge positive feedback generated by the pilot episode that tackled the contentious subject of female foeticide both in rural and urban India, Aamir succeeded in setting up of fast track courts in Rajasthan to solve impending cases of female foeticide.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan assured Aamir Khan that they will take strict action for female foeticide. We hope that this “Assurance” is not just another “Assurance”.

The second episode of Aamir Khan’s television show Satyamev Jayate deals with another bitter truth of society which is the issue of child abuse.

A survey conducted in 2007 by the Women and Child Development Ministry and the NGO Prayas in association with Unicef and Save the Children across 13 states and with a sample size of 12,447, found that 53.22% of children reported having faced one or more forms of sexual abuse. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Delhi had reported the highest percentage of such incidents at that time. In 50% of the cases, the abusers were known to the child or were in a position of trust and responsibility and most children did not report the matter to anyone.

According to the sources, Aamir has been working with a string of NGOs working with children abused sexually either at home or outside, often by people they trust. The second episode has shown the cases of Cindrella Prakash and Harish Aiyer who have gone through bad experiences of child sexual abuse in their past.

We really appreciate the words of Cindrella, who said “The incident should haunt him, why me?.” Harish Iyer from Mumbai also spoke about his dreadful childhood and how he was raped for over a number of years by his male relative.

And both of these guests at Aamir’s show need to be applauded for showing the courage of coming in front of the camera and speaking about the worst experiences of their lives. The society actually needs an awareness that do not make this issue a taboo but encourages the people to talk about such issues and make the children understand the fact that any such incident  is an attack on their individuality and personality and that they need to shout out loud if they come face to face with any such mishap.

Amidst the storm of the so called Reality Shows Amir Khan’s “Satyamev Jayate” has arrived as a sigh of relief. Although the Idiot Box (TV) has always been aware of its “Responsibilty” and has showcased shows based on the Public issues that claim to eradicate the negativity present in the society, but are truely engaged in raising their TRP’s with the overdose of melodrama.

But the difference that makes Satyamev Jayate stand in the forefront of these Reality Shows is that the show is hosted by “Mr. Perfectionist”, Amir Khan and the prime focus of the show is more on the awareness part than the counselling. Aamir very rightly said in the first episode of Satyamev Jayate that we are the magic wands. A platform where we can openly discuss about the inherent problems of our own homes is the need of the hour. ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is a step towards that kind of openness.
But the question arises, do we really need a super star, to tell us what wrong we are doing? Can’t we understand this of our own?
“I am no one to bring change or solve anything…neither the government. I can only keep the issues in front of everyone. The change should come from within. One person cannot improve or bring solution to an issue,” Aamir said, talking to the reporters.
Everyone knows that these things happen. A show like this proves and inspires that something needs to be done. Of course, a lot of people say that the change will be for some time only and then people will go back to their lives, but someone has to take action.

Lets see the coming time, if any change comes or not, criminals get their deserved punishment or not.

Lets hope that this series of Amir Khan’s Production is not just a another way of TV Channel to get higher TRPs.

According to reports Vastavikta, who made her Bollywood debut in the supernatural thriller ‘Eight’, moved next to Shahid’s apartment building, Raj Classique, on Yari Road after she fell in love with the ‘Kaminey’ actor when she first met him at Shiamak Davar`s dance classes a few years ago.

Vastavikta, who claims herself as Shahid’s wife, has been accosting the actor at odd-hours of the day.
Sources also confirmed that her mother had even written an apology note to Shahid for Vastavikta`s behaviour. Vastavikta believes Shahid to be her husband.

“Shahid did not want to file the complaint but he had no choice as it had gone on for too long,” a source said.
Shahid had refrained himself from taking any strict actions and has been dealing with the issue cautiously for six months, but now that things have gone out of proportion, he had no other choice left except a legal action.

Senior police inspector Nankumar Mhetar of Versova Police Station said, “We have filed a non-cognisable complaint after a letter from Shahid Kapoor submitted by his manager. We have called the girl, but she was not at home.”

Well the appropriate time to release a light hearted romantic film is around the V- DAY and yes you will hit the jackpot definitely. Ek main Aur Ekk tu is the latest in this lot. Not a very good opening at the box office, Valentine’s Day has helped the film to raise the number of its audiences.  Ek main Aur Ekk tu is not an extraordinary effort by Karan Johar, but the film has managed to raise a brow at the so called “high society”. A happy go lucky types, Ek main Aur Ekk tu, will leave you with nothing special while coming out of the theatres, neither will you go regretting spending money on this Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan starrer.

Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah have been impressive in their roles. Kareena Kapoor has looked hot and has justified her role. Imran Khan looks cute but needs to polish his acting skills a little more.  And as Riana (Kareena) tells Rahul (Imran) in the movie that he is, “perfectly average” goes with Imran (Imran) in existence too. Imran Khan is actually perfectly average. That’s the reason why he has not made it yet, in the galaxy, still he is loved by many. Although he has worked hard to shape up the character of Rahul in the movie, in terms of his body language.

The film ends with an impression of Ek main Aur Ekk tu (Part 2) but I doubt whether Johar go into it now. Music/songs are lovable, if you listen to them with free and open mind.

As an on screen couple Kareena and Imran look promising. People would definitely want to watch them together more in the future.  Not a very good film, it might attract few young buds. And as the dialogue makes it clear itself, Ek main Aur Ekk tu is a PERECTLY AVERAGE film.

There are very few lucky ones in this world who are blessed to decide at a very early stage in their career that what is it that they actually want to live for. And when passion teams up with hard work, it gives amazing results. Vineet Saxena is one of this lot. He was teen ager, when he played his first professional match in the under 19 team, representing India! He had to never look back after that. Playing cricket since a very early age and wishing to play the game, till he has the power. Recently I got fortunate to have a candid chat with the player himself, Vineet Saxena. Well, for the people who do not follow Cricket on State level, here is a short introduction of the player for you, Profile Of Vineet Saxena .

As they say, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication; the man lives the phrase from beginning to end. A cricketer in the Ranji team he plays for Rajasthan.

“Who does not like to be famous?” he said very calmly. “It is a pleasure and an honor to be a part of Ranji Trophy, represent your state (Rajasthan), play for it and win! But playing on a National level does make things different in many ways.” Facing all the attention these days Saxena also feels upset about the careless attitude of Media. “We are getting all the hype and attention because we won. Otherwise Media has always been indifferent”, he complained.

It has been 2 years consecutively that Rajasthan is winning the Ranji Trophy. But Vineet Saxena this year shinned very brightly in the finals, by hitting the first double century of his career. When I asked him about the state of mind with which he enters the ground, he stated very convincingly, “I try to be as calm and composite as possible, because the moment runs come inside your mind, your game is definitely going to be ruined.” “I do not think about the future, neither am I bothered from my past, I prefer to be in the present. I plan for ball to ball and moment to moment.”

Aiming for the National Cricket Team, the enthusiastic player says, “Failures make me stronger. After all nobody is perfect. Whenever I am not able to perform well, I review myself more closely. I get to know on what are the things I need to work on. What are my drawbacks? Failures give me the zeal to work harder.”
Deprived of any other male member in the family, as Vineet saxena lost his father sometime back, he heartily thanks his family for being corporative. “As my job demands too much of travelling, the times when I am at home are very few. But I have got a lovely mother and wife, who have been kind enough to never complaint about the respective fact. Though it is tough for them sometimes but they understand.”
Just became a responsible father of a cute little girl, Vineet saxena also knows the responsibilities of being a player that too much depend on how fit you are! And I ended this wonderful conversation, with his mother telling me about how he avoids rice and sweets these days, to remain healthy!

In this new age of remixes and remakes, where pathetic pieces of art are being made in the name of inspiration and Tribute, “Agneepath” has come as a fresh air’s blow for the movie lovers. An Inspiration and a Tribute in its true sense, “Agneepath” is a fine composition with justified characterizations, awesome actings, novelty and good screenplay. Well it would be a little difficult to term it as a better film from Amitabh’s “Agneepath” but I would say that it would not be correct to compare the oldie and the newbie. Both the films behold their identities and successfully showcase themselves has individuals.

Although the protagonist Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, do appear a little less powerful than the anti-hero, Kancha. But if the bady is being played by someone like Sanjay Dutt, over shadowing of the hero is natural, may it be Hrithik Roshan. A well-developedplot seems to be a bit slow in the beginning but tights up its belt gradually that stay with the audience, till the end. A violently amazing screenplay does not give you the time to think about the old “Agneepath”.You do miss the dialogue delivery of Amitabh Bacchan sometimes, but as I said do not compare the old and the new one and you will enjoy the film more.

Sanjay Dutt has very convincingly played the Khalnayak. Brutality at its peak! Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra have also played their characters with complete focus and have actually lived them. Someone whose character has really attracted the people, inspite of not being in the old Agneepath is Rishi Kapoor, as Rauf lala. His character as a Mafia actually makes you to hate him (like you love him).

Music does not play a very attractive part of this Agneepath’s package but “Chikni Chameli” has definitely played a vital role in calling up the audiences at the box office. But what one can talk about, even after coming out of the theatres is the background score of the film.

The signature dialogue of the film, “naam vijay chauhan, poora naam Vijay Deenanath Chauhan…..” has been very perfectly moulded in a new situation and backdrop, but yes it has not lost its soul.

All in all “Agneepath” is a film to be remembered and watched again due to the hard work done by Karan Malhotra. Every possible detail has been taken care of in the film. I personally loved the scene when Vijay sees his burnt home, and we could see him and a burnt bulb in the frame and there are few more. But not going into explaining them all I would recommend you to go and watch the film with a free mind and not carrying the old “Agneepath” along with you because:-

It has always been very difficult for me to admire Ekta Kapoor for her senseless small screen dramas. And I never thought that I would be praising her for anything in my blog. But, “The Dirty Picture” proves me wrong! Who says that cheap one liners and selling sex on Big screen leads to vulgarity and Dirt? Vidya Balan as “Silk”, in spite of being played the role with full conviction and justice does not leave you with an “ohhh la la ohh la la” feeling, but you come out of the theatre applauding her performance and the movie.  And not only Silk but each character of the movie, has appeared appropriate and human. Naseerruddin Shah, Tusshar, Imran Hashmi, everyone has been successfully marked their presence in the film.

The Dirty Picture has revealed the darker side of the Entertainment Industry in a very subtle and quiet manner. The Dirty Picture showcases the fact that Bollywood has always been a male dominated planet. But the Heroism that exists on as well as off the screen is an entity of very few hearts, and Silk (Vidya Balan) is a symbol of this Heroism.

The movie does not have a single loop hole and that’s the reason why the audiences do not get the time to blink their eyes for even a second. The scene where Silk sees herself as Reshma in every mirror she comes across and finally as Silk in a small pit filled with muddy, dirty water, might leave you thinking, that who am I and what have I become!! Even if you do not acquire any message (you might not as there are no two pages long monologues pronounced by the characters, as can be heard and seen in many of our hindi films), from the movie you can watch it for pure..

ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT!!!

A must watch, this has come into my list of favorite movies. And if you have not yet got the pleasure of watching The Dirty Picture yet, plan it out asap.

Endearing Promos, Lovely Songs, Greatly Hyped but unfortunately an unsuccessful attempt by the actor turned Director, Pankaj Kapoor. A simple love story that’s what Mausam could have been. But in order to make it a Love Saga with the twists and turns of anti-social activities has made the Director and the actors to enact something very lethargic piece of art that inspite of being highly melodramatic, fails to touch the audiences’ hearts.
The Promos and the music definitely raised the expectations of the Media, Classes and the Masses. But most of these people have come out of the theatre carrying a bad review of the film. Though the beginning of the movie seems promising but the slow pace of the events drags it unnecessarily for three hours. The story showcases the time period of 10 years in a young boy and girl’s life. How they meet, separate, meet again, again get separated and finally end up marrying each other. As a stated earlier the love story could have been simple but the complications of the anti-social activities and an unnecessary filming of all the terroristic activities has made the plot a complex one. And it definitely does not soothe the viewers.
Shahid Kapoor has tried to give his best shot and his personal attachment with the movie and the character is visible throughout the film, because Mausam has been directed by his father. Sonam Kapoor no doubt has become a fashion Icon for the young generation. And his love for style and fashion is clearly seen in the Scotland sequence. Though the Scotland set up seems a little artificial and unnatural.
Mausam do have some great love moments between Harry (Shahid) and Ayat (Sonam), but unfortunately these scenes are unable to make the audience to stick to their chairs. The movie has turned up to be a disaster for Pankaj Kapoor. But of course the “Office Office” star deserves another opportunity as there is no doubt about him being a talented artist. Well.. I wish him All the Best for his next venture whenever he plans it.

When we talk about the “Jungleepan” on celluloid the first name that comes to our mind is “Shammi Kapoor”.

Shamsher Raj Kapoor, the son of Prithvi Raj Kapoor, saw a bright and an entertaining career in Hindi Films. His mannerism and his flamboyancy took over the hearts of many during those times. As a hero and as a character artist, later on, Shammi Kapoor shined in every character of his.

He was an actor of the masses. In-spite of his chocolaty and fair looks he was never typecasted. His  youthfulness and love for cinema kept him young all through his life.

Won the filmfare award for the best actor in a lead role for his all time favorite movie “Brahmchaari”. Apart from that he also earned many life time achievement awards. As a child i fondly remember the Shammi Kapoor and Ashok Kumar’s “Pan Parag” advertisement.

Having rarest of all dancing styles, Shammi Kapoor will be remembered always by the bollywood fraternity and his fans.
